Greetings From Mayor I thank you very much for your visiting Kashiwara's Website. My name is Yasuaki Okamoto and I'm Mayor of Kashiwara. While Kashiwara is situated only 20kms from the heart of Osaka City, it is a city of abundant greenery and beautiful rivers. The Yamato and Ishi River’s converge in Kashiwara, and historically Kashiwara was an entrance point into the Nara, the eastern end of the famous Silk Road. Kashiwara also boasts many ancient and historic ruins from previous eras. Contributing to the growth of an“Education Culture City,”is the Osaka Kyoiku University, nestled in the hills of Kashiwara. It was the 40th anniversary of the municipal organization of Kashiwara City in 1998. Riviere Hall, City Culture Hall, was built in commemoration, and opened in July 1998. And we will mark its 50th anniversary in 2008. In August there are the Citizens' Festival with the All-Nippon Kawachi Ondo Dancing Competition every year.
